MSSD engages national media to strengthen transparency, broaden social services reporting

(Michael Camsa/BIO) COTABATO CITY—Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) on Tuesday convened national media practitioners at the Tanglaw National Media Forum to strengthen transparency, improve public access to information, and promote more comprehensive reporting on social service delivery in the region. With the theme “Bridging the Narrative: A National Media Forum on the Effective Reporting of BARMM’s Social Service Delivery,” the forum gathered national media professionals, information officers, and partners to improve the flow of accurate information from the Bangsamoro government to the wider national public. “The Bangsamoro region has a unique story that needs to be shared with a wider audience—not only narratives of conflict or sieges, but also its best practices and developments that can inform and inspire others,” said MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie. The minister underscored that balanced and well-informed reporting is essential in showcasing the positive impact of the ministry’s initiatives. “It is vital to highlights the gains of the peace process alongside the ministry’s programs, best practices and tailored responses that address region’s distinct needs,” she added. The forum also featured an overview of MSSD’s key milestones, institutional achievements, and digital innovations from 2019 to 2025, along with its strategic priorities for the continued improvement of services in BARMM. Participants were given direct access to MSSD executives, allowing for discussions, raising of concerns, and collaborative inputs to help ensure that future press releases and media coverage remain accurate, informative, and responsive to the public’s needs. Rex Espiritu, a reporter from Manila Standard, highlighted the importance of such forums for national media. “This event is crucial. It allows us to gain the necessary insights to report on the Bangsamoro region’s programs to a wider audience and ensure that citizens are informed of these positive developments,” he said. Delegates included representatives from GMA Public Affairs, Manila Standard, People’s Television Network (PTV), DZMM Teleradyo, News5, Anadolu Agency, One PH, Malacañang Press Corps (MPC), Kyodo News, ABS-CBN News, Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Radyo Pilipinas, BusinessWorld, DZRH, and GMA Regional TV.
